The purpose of this project is to examine the relation between body and image through video and dance movement. How vision works Vision starts when the rays of light enter the eye through the external, transparent tissue of the cornea. The rays then proceed to go through the pupil, the small round black area at the centre of the coloured iris. The pupil’s size varies according to the quantity of light that penetrates the eye. Then the rays pass through the crystalline lens which, by modifying its shape, focuses the rays according to the observed object –a process called eye focusing. Eventually, the light reaches the retina and releases an energy that stimulates the cells, creating a nerve impulse that travels via the optic nerve all the way to the brain where the interpretation of the object in view can be processed.

On the one hand we are all familiar with the « cerebral film », the big multimedia show (images, sounds, sensations) that we have in our heads. On the other hand, the question is to know who that film belongs to: it’s the question of the self. The cerebral film aspect has been tackled by nearly everyone, but we need to address the issue of how the brain and the body build the « film-belongs-to-me » construct: we need to question the meaning of the self. This is the subject of the piece.

» Two times, two gravities: Dance and video installation. Image perceives regard and weight constitutes movement. No Body, Never Mind is a variety of sensory and visual perceptions.
